Parklife Festival 2010
June 22, 2010
Grab your tent and wellies, it’s that time of the year again – it’s Festival season! Tickets were sold in record time out for the hotly anticipated Parklife Festival 2010 situated in England’s Manchester. The Parklife festival takes place annually in Manchester’s Platt Fields with this year featuring over 40 acts across 6 stages with a line up that consisted of names such as Friendly Fires and Booka Shade. There was a real emphasis on value for money, top quality acts and other kinds of madness planned in order to kick start Summer with a bang. There are still opportunities to acquire tickets through competitions in the Bench Live website for other festivals such as Melt and Creamfields. The opportunity to win festival tickets will still be appealing to many. I will certainly try to win a ticket. For more information about the Parklife Festival and other music events, check out the Bench Live website – my favourite place to get the latest news and views from the music world.
Katy Perry Style!
June 18, 2010
Since Katy Perry burst onto the scene in 2008 with the controversial song ‘I kissed a girl’, she has sold hundreds of thousands records as well as reaching the front of top fashion magazines. Thus, media attention has incessantly followed her wherever she goes. However, every picture I see her in she just looks great. She has such an original, unique fashion sense that has attracted the attention of the top fashion labels. Her style is one of quirkiness but does quite reach the level of eccentricity of other famous names such as Lady Gaga. Here she sports a few outfits that are reminiscent of 40s styling, a look she suits well.
Best Dressed Men In Football
June 15, 2010
The 2010 Football World Cup has got underway; therefore not for the first time this post has a football theme. Some of the greatest players in the World have descended upon the southern most tip of Africa to ply their trade. However, the life of a footballer does not solely involve the kicking of the ball. They also have to perform some strenuous modelling. These are some of the best dressed men in Football.
Mark Ronson Couture!
June 3, 2010
Mark Ronson has to be one of the best dressed men out there right now, providing inspiration for all men. He is constantly being snapped in fresh, original outfits. He does’nt so much as follow trends but sets them. Therefore, it comes as no surprise to find out that Gucci have asked Mark Ronson to design a limited edition range of trainers that will be sold exclusively in a new store, Gucci Icon-Temporary that recently opened up in London. Again, no surprise that these shoes are styled with Ronson’s iconic look – one being polka-dot and the other grey flannel. Both look great!
Sarah Jessica Parker Style!
May 28, 2010
Unless you have been living in a cave, you will aware that the new Sex And the City movie had it’s World premiere this week in New York followed by the premiere in London. The mass public were excited to try and get a glimpse of the stars of what may be one of the biggest films of the year. And it’s no surprise that all attention had turned to what the leading stars have been wearing to these premieres. Under most pressure from public scrutiny was Sarah Jessica Parker, who over the years has generated this image of being a style icon. At the London premiere to Sex And The City she did not disappoint. I love this dress, outdoing her co stars with relative ease. The dress is so classy and elegant and she just sparkles in it.
Sarah Jessica Parker turned up to the London Premiere with a billowing Alexander McQueen black strapless dress with a towering hat and black lace court shoes. She also wore a black armband with what people believe to be a tribute to the late Alexander McQueen. The outrageous hat sparked memories of the fabulous hat she wore at the premiere of the first Sex And The City Film in 2008.
Cannes Film Festival Couture
May 20, 2010
The Cannes Film Festival is one of the oldest, most prestigious film events in the world. The Festival which first started in 1946 is held in May of every year in the small town of Cannes in the south of France. The annual event’s main programme is the competition where twenty films compete for the prestigious Palme d’Or award decided by a panel of judges, joined this year by Tim Burton. With such a prize up for grabs, it is no wonder that movie star royalty have flown from around the world to take it the summer’s main film event. An event with so much history and class, it is small wonder that these celebrities have turned up in their best outfits. The women stick to the classy dresses, whilst the men go with the tried and trusted suit and silk tie look. Photographs from the Cannes Film Festival will make their way around the globe to fronts of the most popular fashion magazines. With so much focus on attire, these celebrities must look their best. There is a general consensus that Kate Beckinsale stole the show with this beautiful dress.
Russell Crowe’s Robin Hood
May 13, 2010
I went to see the new Robin Hood film with Russell Crowe last night. In my opinion it just wasn’t for me. I didn’t enjoy it, nor did the film immerse me into the world of Robin Hood. The film was around 2h 30 mins long. I don’t mind long films but when you’re rather bored then time sort of drags. I was very aware that Russell Crowe was basically playing his Maximus role in this film, although not quite as cool. The Sheriff of Nottingham was reduced to a bumbling fool in this film – how I longed for Alan Rickman to make an appearance! The ever watchable Mark Strong who plays the main villian was probably the best thing. The ever dependable Cate Blanchett as reliable as ever. The movie looks great under the direction of Ridley Scott, however the story line was just boring. Discovering the origins of Robin Hood could have been such an exciting experience, however it was reduced to cheesy jokes and cringing “rousing” speeches that seem to turn a whole country around in 40 seconds. It was at the end of the movie, that it starts getting exciting, however for me it was too little too late. To be honest I prefer the Kevin Costner version – Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. But this is just my opinion, i’m sure others will disagree.
Deadmau5 Style!
April 21, 2010
I have been a huge fan of Gio-Goi for some time. Their T-shirts are some of my favourites. I am an even bigger fan of the DJ Deadmau5. So I was delighted to have recently learnt that Deadmau5 has been working in conjunction with Gio-Goi to sport some of their latest collections. Deadmau5 has always been a bit of a trendsetter so I thought this was the perfect marriage.
Here he is on the Decks whilst wearing one of Gio Goi’s T-shirts – one which I already have. I love it when celebs are pictured wearing clothes I have already bought.
Deadmau5 is playing at the McAllen Convention centre, New York, this weekend. If there wasn’t an ash cloud hanging over my head, i would probably consider the trip.
