Summer Sale!

June 28, 2010

It is now late June and just so happens to be my favourite time of the year – it’s Sale time! There are some brilliant sales on right now with offers of up to 50% off as all the big brands try to get rid of the Spring/Summer collection and bring in the new Autumn/Winter range. I’ve already spent a fair bit of money on the Reiss sale. I’ve had my eye on this casual jacket for a while but it has always been outside of my price range. However, I bought it for £79, down from £159, now that’s a saving!

The 2010 Football World Cup has got underway; therefore not for the first time this post has a football theme. Some of the greatest players in the World have descended upon the southern most tip of Africa to ply their trade. However, the life of a footballer does not solely involve the kicking of the ball. They also have to perform some strenuous modelling. These are some of the best dressed men in Football.

Handcrafted Couture

I wish I could afford this Sweater. The attention to detail is unbelievably which perhaps explains the hefty price tag. Elvis Jesus design some of the most impressive items of clothing around right now.

One look that will stay around for a while is the lumberjack look. These are casual shirts that are checked (tartanesque) and provides the image that you cut down trees for a living. I do like the look, it is just so common though. Absolutely everyone has one of these checked casual shirts. I am even wearing one of these shirts as I am writing this. I would wear these shirts more often it they were a bit more original. However, some of my favourites come courtesy of Bench who have a cool range of casual shirts.

Mark Ronson Couture!

June 3, 2010

Mark Ronson has to be one of the best dressed men out there right now, providing inspiration for all men. He is constantly being snapped in fresh, original outfits. He does’nt so much as follow trends but sets them. Therefore, it comes as no surprise to find out that Gucci have asked Mark Ronson to design a limited edition range of trainers that will be sold exclusively in a new  store, Gucci Icon-Temporary that recently opened up in London. Again, no surprise that these shoes are styled with Ronson’s iconic look – one being polka-dot and the other grey flannel. Both look great!

As we approach the start of the Football World Cup, I have found another designer that has jumped on the Football bandwagon. Louis Vuitton have acquired the servives of three of the greatest players to have ever kicked a ball – Diego Maradona, Pele and Zinedine Zidane. Now that would make for great viewing. Here we capture them playing a bit of table football for LV’s Core Value ad campaign in what has to be one of my favourite pictures of the year so far. This poignant picture captures the three legends transfixed in the sheer joy of the game. I know I would quite like a Louis Vuitton suitcase, however having one with the initials Z.Z (observe bottom right) would certainly make my day.

As we live in an environmental conscious society, certain designers have seen fit to jump on the band wagon by trying to get consumers to reduce their Carbon footprint – cue Timberland’s Earthkeeper 2.0 boat shoe. This is Timberland’s answer to saving the environment. For decades, scientists and geologists have been working day and night in order to find a solution to stop global warming, if only they had approached Timberland. These deck shoes can be recycled when they are no longer seaworthy by returning them to any of the brand’s stores, to be used for future products. Do Timberland actually believe these boat shoes will ‘Keep the Earth’ or is it just another publicity stunt? Whatever the reason, I do like their style.

As it is approaching summer I have decided to post my ideal outfit for this season. After looking through various brands, I decided to go with Reiss as their new SS10 collection is pretty cool. I think this outfit not only looks great but also looks really comfortable. Sometimes comfort is sacrificed for style but not this time. I’ve gone for a casual look but there still remains a level of sophistication that i like. I don’t usually wear hats but I think once again hats will be huge this summer and I’m really digging this one. The casual jacket will be ideal for protection against the chill of the summer nights.

Luxury Shirts!

May 12, 2010

I’ve always been quite a big fan of Duchamp London. Their products bring life and colour to the dull environment of the office. Some of their luxury shirts are just brilliant. Not only do they look good, but they are quality as well – just trust me with this. They are designed in house, hand cut from Italian fabric. Celebrities including Jonathon Ross and Stephen Fry have been seen sporting these shirts from Duchamp so they must be good. It is the colour and patterns that just grabs my attention every time. I’m too used to looking at dull blues and whites in the office. These striped shirts are so colourful; I would be surprised if you couldn’t see them in the dark. Really digging their website as well. Cool, dark background that is in stark contrast to the vibrant striped shirts and ties. The website provides real insight into each step of the tie and shirt making process. You know then that you are buying quality.
