The Cannes Film Festival is one of the oldest, most prestigious film events in the world. The Festival which first started in 1946 is held in May of every year in the small town of Cannes in the south of France. The annual event’s main programme is the competition where twenty films compete for the prestigious Palme d’Or award decided by a panel of judges, joined this year by Tim Burton. With such a prize up for grabs, it is no wonder that movie star royalty have flown from around the world to take it the summer’s main film event.
